I provide safe, non-judgemental, in-person and virtual counselling in Ladysmith, B.C. I work with clients all over Canada.
When working with clients, especially in the field of trauma, the number one priority is the relationship.
Without the relationship, very little can transpire.
Therefore, initial sessions are about both of us getting to know one another, understanding and hearing the individual story of each client.
There are many ways to help individuals gain awareness around how trauma has affected them.
Research shows that trauma is stored both within the body and the mind. Therefore, a full brain, mind, and body approach is how I work with my clients.
Trauma is stored in the body as physiological responses, and in the mind, most often, as distorted and extreme thoughts.
This takes time to heal from, and for some, it can be frightening.
That is common and normal in almost all my clients.
Gaining awareness of small physiological processes, sensations, and reactions within the body.
Our thinking contributes to the complexity of these experiences.
Gaining awareness through psychological education (what's happening to you), in a non-judgmental, emotionally safe environment, helps you recognize and manage your symptoms.
This then allows trauma to be resolved.
